QLD need a result, even with the classic QLD strategy of minimal changes, some changes need to be made.

Jojo Fifita had an average showing on debut for QLD, he will likely make way for Murray Taulagi who has been in hot try-scoring form in 2026.

The only other change to the starting 13 has to be Kulikefu Finefeuiaki in for Kurt Capewell. Finefeuiaki has been one of the best forwards in the competition and is built for Origin. NSW would've been very pleased not to see him in game 1, especially with his impactful direct running, he would be QLD's Spencer Leniu and has to be in the team for game 2.

Changes to the bench could see Heilum Luki and David Fifita selected. Luki has been in excellent form at the Cowboys being a genuine try-scoring forward and would be a great selection for game 2 alongside Fifita who returned from injury with a try.

Luki's Cowboys teammates deserve to round out the bench with Jaxon Purdue and Jake Clifford potentially selected. Purdue is a great option as someone to play 1-5 or in the halves and could inject great pace if an injury occurs. Clifford has been also in red hot form and was probably close to getting the 7 jersey over Walker. With his form and kicking game he's a far better option than Ezra Mam at the minute who was fortunate to be selected in game 1.
