The Socceroos are set for one of their biggest tests of 2026, with Brazil heading to Queensland for a blockbuster two-match international series later this month.

The five-time World Cup champions will face Australia twice, with Carlo Ancelotti already confirming his 26-player squad for the fixtures.

Tony Popovic is yet to announce his final Socceroos squad, which will be announced this Friday, but there are plenty of familiar names expected to feature, alongside several players pushing for their opportunity at international level.

The first match in Townsville will be broadcast on Network 10 and Paramount+, while the Brisbane fixture will be available on Paramount+.

With Popovic's final squad still to be announced, here is my predicted 26-man Australia squad for the two matches.

Goalkeepers

Mat Ryan (Levante)
Pat Beach (Troyes)
Paul Izzo (Randers)

Defenders

Jacob Italiano (Grazer)
James Overy (Sydney FC)
Aziz Behich (Melbourne City)
Kasey Bos (Excelsior)
Jason Geria (Albirex Niigata)
Harry Souttar (Leicester)
Alessandro Circati (Benfica)
Lucas Herrington (Hull City)
Kye Rowles (DC United)

Midfielders

Jackson Irvine (Cerezo Osaka)
Conor Metcalfe (St Pauli)
Cam Devlin (Rangers)
Paul Okon-Engstler (Koln)
Aiden O'Neill (New York City FC)
Alex Robertson (Cardiff)

Forwards

Nestroy Irankunda (Sporting)
Marcus Younis (Brondby)
Martin Boyle (Hibernian)
Riley McGree (Middlesbrough)
Eli Adams (Gamba Osaka)
Mohamed Toure (Norwich)
Tete Yengi (Machida Zelvia)
Zac Sapsford (Dundee)

The squad would combine experienced Socceroos such as Ryan, Behich, Souttar, Irvine and Boyle with a number of younger players who could become important parts of Australia's next generation.

Unlike Australia, Brazil have already named their squad for the Queensland fixtures.

Goalkeepers

Hugo Souza (Corinthians)
Pedro Morisco (Coritiba)
Otavio (Cruzeiro)

Defenders

Arthur Dias β€” Athletico-PR
Douglas Santos (Zenit)
Gabriel (Arsenal)
Jair Cunha (Nottingham Forest)
Marquinhos (PSG)
Matheuzinho (Corinthians)
Mauro Junior (PSV)
Vitor Reis (Manchester City)
Wesley (AS Roma)

Midfielders

Andrey Santos (Manchester United)
Breno Bidon (Corinthians)
Bruno Guimaraes (Arsenal)
Danilo Santos (Botafogo)
Douglas Luiz (Juventus)
Gabriel Bontempo (Santos)

Forwards

Endrick (Real Madrid)
Estevao (Chelsea)
Joao Pedro (Chelsea)
Pedro (Flamengo)
Raphinha (Barcelona)
Rayan (Bournemouth)
Samuel Lino (Flamengo)
Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid)

The two matches will provide Popovic's side with a rare opportunity to test themselves against one of international football's most successful nations.

For Brazil, the fixtures are also part of the beginning of a new cycle under Ancelotti, with the Italian coach looking to develop a squad capable of challenging for future major tournaments.

For Australia, attention will be on which players Popovic selects and whether some of the younger names can force their way into the Socceroos' plans.

With Brazil bringing a squad containing Viniucius Junior, Raphinha, Gabriel, Joao Pedro and Bruno Guimarges to Queensland, both matches should provide a fascinating test for Australia's next generation.
