  1. Arsenal

The Gunners are the most settled of the current contenders, and off the back of a Premier League title, I am backing Arsenal to win consecutive Premier Leagues. The Gunners should feel confident after breaking a two-decade drought, and have the most settled manager and squad.

The really big question is how much Mikel Arteta will change the style of play. Will Arsenal stick with their more rigid style, or loosen up and really try to bang heaps of goals in to overwhelm opposition sides.

With the additions of Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis, Arsenal's squad is better than last season. With time still remaining in the window, Arsenal could go for another forward as that is the weakest area of the squad, and that would only make them stronger.

The big issues for Arsenal right now is covering the key injuries such as William Saliba who increases Arsenal's win percentage when he plays significantly.

  1. Manchester City

City and Arsenal I think will battle it out in another two-horse race for the title. While City's 3-0 defeat to the Gunners in the Community Shield won't fill them with confidence, they still remain an incredibly dangerous side.

Why City are not the favourites right now, is because the impact of Pep Guardiola leaving isn't yet known. Enzo Maresca is a good manager, and has inherited an insanely good roster so City have few excuses not to win the title.

Their biggest issue will be losing Rodri, who has been such a key part of their recent success. Plus under new management under Maresca, City could just take some time to settle which puts them second favourites on paper.

  1. Manchester United

Michael Carrick is now permanent, and United are finally showing some direction for their club. Last summer the attack was upgraded significantly, with the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo being top class additions to the side.

12 months on, and United have bolstered their midfield with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Where United will struggle is in their defence. If they get a few injuries they won't have the depth to challenge yet, but their attack is very good and if the midfield can click into gear, they are only a few players from a genuine title contender.

  1. Chelsea

Everyone's dark horse of the season, Chelsea have an excellent chance to push into the title conversation. A new top class manager in Xabi Alonso, and some great additions to their side including Morgan Rogers and Maxence Lacroix.

With Robert Sanchez still in goal, and with Marc Cucurella leaving the club, Chelsea are still quite vulnerable in defence. With no European football this season, Chelsea should fancy their chances to qualify for the Champions League, and if they can fix their defensive fragilities, they could push for a title.

  1. Liverpool

Another top side with a new manager, Liverpool will be an intriguing side to watch this season. With the post-Salah era starting, it's unclear right now how much of a threat Liverpool could be this season.

Where they could come unstuck is with a lack of depth especially in defence, and if Alexander Isak doesn't perform again. Then with nobody up front with the quality of Salah, Liverpool could find themselves in a transition year and won't compete for the title this time around.

  1. Aston Villa

This season will be Unai Emery's biggest test of his tenure. Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and potentially Emi Martinez on the way out will be a test of his sides depth.

Villa have added the likes of Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes to their midfield, and are a tough side to beat on the road. Where they could struggle, is goals from their wide men. Alejandro Garnacho in for Morgan Rogers is such a huge downgrade, and it wouldn't shock me if Villa came lower than 6th.

But, Emery is a top manager, Villa away is one of the hardest games for every team, and they still have a solid side that should hold up over the course of 38 games.

  1. Tottenham

This should be the season we see Tottenham back up near the top rather than in a relegation scrap. With Tottenham investing heavily in their side over the summer, they should expect at least a top 10 finish with the players they have on their roster.

Liability players like Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario are now a thing of the past under Roberto De Zerbi, and that decision should prove a fruitful one. Where Tottenham could struggle is if none of their forwards step up to be a big goalscorer, but I expect a much better season for Tottenham in 2026/27.

  1. Brighton

Brighton's main enemy right now is injuries to key players, meaning Fabian Hurzeler is forced to change his style, and his main starting XI.

But Brighton still have some top young talent on their books that should secure them a top half finish. With no Danny Welbeck this season, and injuries to Yankuba Minteh and Kauru Mitoma, Brighton's big issue will be where they get their goals from.

I think with someone like Luka Vuskovic on their books now, set pieces will become a big part of their season, with open play goals reducing from previous seasons.

  1. Brentford

One of the shocks of season 2025/26, Brentford are looking strong again for this season. They play very uncomplicated, high-percentage football, the style of football that guarantees a mid table finish 9/10 times.

I think Mamdou Sangare will be one of the buys of the summer, and will suit Brentford's style this season. Where they could struggle is with their depth quality. I think they need to add a few more players to their roster before the window closes, then a European push could be on the cards.

  1. Everton

Everton has real potential to be a European side, but David Moyes has disillusioned much of the Everton fanbase with some of his decisions recently.

If Moyes can get it right, or a new manager, Everton can qualify for Europe this season. Everton still need to add a few more players to their side in order to achieve this, and I think they just don't have the quality depth required this season to get into Europe.

  1. Nottingham Forest

A suspect there will be a revival of Nottingham Forest under Oliver Glasner. If Forest can actually stick with a formula and a manager, I think they can fly up the ladder this season.

Although they have lost Elliot Anderson, Forest are looking good in the transfer market, with some big targets rumoured to be on their radar. With Igor Jesus in good form, Dan Ndoye coming off a great World Cup, keeping Morgan Gibbs-White, a stacked defence, and a top class manager, I think Forest could shock a lot of people this season.

  1. Leeds

Another side who has been impressive in the transfer window is Leeds. They are looking really good coming into this season and I think will shoot up the ladder.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin in good form, Harry Wilson now in attack, Tarik Muhareomovic in defence, and finally a decent keeper in James Trafford, Leeds genuinely have a good side.

Leeds seem organised, have a clear direction and style of play, and have improved their roster significantly over the summer. I expect Leeds to challenge for a top 10 finish this season, stunning some big sides along the way.

  1. Sunderland

Sunderland were great last season and did the best business of any side in the division. This summer not so much. Very quiet in the transfer market, plus have European football to contend with could mean Sunderland struggle at times with their squad depth.

A very good side without a doubt, but with the increase in minutes and lack of new signings, this looks as if it could hurt Sunderland slightly, and they slide down the ladder.

  1. Newcastle

This seasons big disappointment I think will be Newcastle. Eddie Howe leaves after a big preseason defeat, the captain Bruno Guimaraes leaves, Sandro Tonali leaves, Anthony Gordon leaves and now a new manager all to contend with.

Newcastle appear to have some issues going on behind the scenes, not to mention the fact their squad is much weaker on paper than last season. I think Newcastle could really struggle again, and will finish around mid table at best.

  1. Bournemouth

This feels incredibly harsh on a good Bournemouth side to have them this low, but the other sides just look better to me on paper.

A new manager, European football, and Eli Kroupi Jr out for months could harm Bournemouth this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they came much higher than this, but I think they have more things to contend with than other sides, and are not set up as well as the those sides above them.

  1. Fulham

fulham

Fulham have a decent side, but can be got at especially under a new manager. Calvin Bassey and Joachim Anderson are prone to a mistake at the back, and Fulham scream mediocrity with their side.

If Gonzalo Garcia starts to perform and Fulham add some more quality to their midfield and defence, they could finish around mid table, but looking at their current side I see them struggling this season finishing in the lower half of the ladder.

  1. Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are a side who have been stuck in a cycle of league mediocrity despite enjoying their most successful era under Oliver Glasner.

But, under a new manager, losing Maxence Lacroix, and with players like Ismaila Sarr, Daniel Munoz, Jean Phillipe Mateta, and Adam Wharton all linked with moves away, Palace could find themselves in a relegation battle.

When a side needs more goals and you go and sign Dwight McNeil and Evann Guessand, that's not a good look. I think Palace will really struggle this season.

  1. Ipswich

Ipswich have done some great business, the best of the promoted sides thus far, and have the best manager in Gary O'Neil.

The Premier League is tough for promoted sides and they are always the favourites to go down unless they spend a huge amount of money. Just looking at the other sides, they have better players and that's the bleak reality.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ipswich were to stay up this season, but it's very hard not to predict the promoted sides to go back down in this era.

  1. Hull

Hull have made some nice additions to their side, but lack attacking threats and experience unfortunately. The fact they were able to get promoted is a great achievement and there's no pressure on them really which could work in their favour.

  1. Coventry

Coventry have made some good signings over the summer, but not enough. They have the weakest lineup on paper in my opinion, and I think it will be an uphill battle for them to pick up points this season unless they do some significant business before the transfer window closes.

Top Scorers: Erling Haaland (Manchester City) to win golden boot, other I think will score well are Alexander Isak (Liverpool), Antonie Semenyo (Manchester City), and Joao Pedro (Chelsea).

Most Improved Sides: Tottenham, Leeds, and Nottingham Forest.

Sides To Struggle: Newcastle, Bournemouth, Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Best Signings: Christos Tzolis (Arsenal), Bruno Guimaraes (Arsenal), Johan Manzambi (Aston Villa), Antonio Silva (Bournemouth), Mamadou Sangare (Brentford), Luka Vuskovic (Brighton), Morgan Rogers (Chelsea), Maxence Lacroix (Chelsea), Hayden Hackney (Everton), Lucas Herrington (Hull), Kjell Scherpen (Ipswich), James Trafford (Leeds), Tarik Muharemovic (Leeds), Harry Wilson (Leeds), Elliot Anderson (Manchester City), Sandro Tonali (Tottenham), Mateus Fernandes (Tottenham), and Jan Paul Van Hecke (Tottenham).

Best Youngsters: Max Dowman (Arsenal), Bryan Madjo (Aston Villa), Luka Vuskovic (Brighton), Estevao (Chelsea), Jaydee Canvot (Crystal Palace), Lucas Herrington (Hull), and Rio Ngumoha (Liverpool).

Flop Signings: Alejandro Garnacho (Aston Villa), Evann Guessand (Crystal Palace), Ronald Araujo (Liverpool), and Aladji Bamba (Newcastle).

First Manager To Get Sacked: David Moyes (Everton)/Pierre Sage (Crystal Palace)

Best New Manager: Xabi Alonso (Chelsea)
