Eliminated Teams:

South Korea, Czechia, Qatar, Haiti, Scotland, New Zealand, Turkiye, Curacao, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Panama, Iran, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Uruguay.

Just Happy to be Here Teams:

Ecuador - Off a big win they could gain some momentum but are lucky to be in the Round of 32 after their failures in front of goal. Defensively are great but attack could let them down.

Belgium - Got their only win against New Zealand and finally scored. Their attack is better than their defence but their lack of finishing has let them down and are fortunate to be in the knockouts.

Australia - Unlikely to get much further in the World Cup, especially if Tony Popovic continues to not play the strongest 11.

Croatia - Not the team they once were a few years ago, Croatia are solid but don't have the depth or class to challenge.

Sweden - Mixed results, lack of consistency will let them down. If they want to go on a run, they will need their attack to score many goals to give them any chance.

Algeria - Solid side, don't have the quality or experience to challenge, any win from here is a bonus.

Egypt - If Mo Salah can't regain fitness, Egypt's chances are reduced significantly.

Austria - Solid side in defence and midfield, attack doesn't possess the depth and quality needed to compete with the top sides.

Ghana - Very rigid side, but will get found out against the top teams and won't be able to keep up with the pace of the game.

Bosnia and Herzegovina - Not enough quality game changing players to go far in this one unfortunately.

South Africa - Erratic side that won't have what it takes to play professional football to get results.

DR Congo - Become a low block as soon as they play anyone half decent, and will get overwhelmed easily too often to compete.

Paraguay - Too defensive, similarly to DR Congo, and will get exposed under the weight of opposing attacking possession and pressure.

Cape Verde - Would be the most insane result in World Cup history if they can get past the champions.

Dark Horse Teams:

Japan - Organised, technical, quality. Japan have a great chance to win if they can get past Brazil.

Norway - Will need their quality in attack to keep firing, if they can do so they could go far.

Colombia - Very good in attack and very creative. Their chance quantity could get results.

Senegal - Really good up front with great pace, they could shock a few teams if they continue to build momentum.

Cote D'Ivoire - Well rounded and very technical side, will need to take the game to their opposition and play fearless football if they want to go on a run.

Mexico - Riding high on momentum in front of a home crowd could be a great combination for Mexico.

USA - Similar to Mexico, will need to ride their momentum and put as much attacking pressure on their opposition as possible.

Switzerland - Finally getting over the line in games, Switzerland have experienced players who can produce professional games of football.

Canada - Will find it tough against the top sides and could get pushed out of possession, but with home advantage could shock some teams.

In Contention Teams:

Argentina - Messi is on fire, reigning champions, Argentina will fancy their chances to win back-to-back.

Netherlands - On a big undefeated streak, if they can overcome Morocco, it could be a huge chance to cultivate momentum.

Spain - Rocky at times, but certainly have the quality and experience to go all the way.

Brazil - Have found their rhythm in front of goal, will need their defence to hold strong out wide especially if they want another World Cup to add to their collection.

Portugal - Background politics could play a part, but their midfield is the best there is at this World Cup, and will be in the frame no doubt.

Morocco - On a huge undefeated streak, if they can beat the Netherlands, this golden generation could go one further this year.

England - Solid options all around the pitch, but England has made a bad habit of not having that extra bit of quality when it counts. Big chance for them to silence their critics.

Germany - Creates so many good opportunities to score, Germany aren't as strong as some of the other contenders, but chances lead to goals and they could hit their strides at the right time.

The Favourite team:

France - Insane attack, winning games, France look set to bombard the world with their immense ability in attack, and are the current favourites to win it all.
