Keeper - Konstantinos Tzolakis (Hull)

A dream debut for Tzolakis, he kept a clean sheet and made five saves against Manchester United. He looked comfortable and confident in goal for the Tigers, he left a great first impression.

Defence - Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal), Nobel Mendy (Hull), Jarrod Branthwaite (Everton)

Calafiori picked up where he left off against Manchester City in the Community Shield, picking up the ball and making runs into pockets of space all over the pitch. He picked up a clean sheet and an assist against Coventry.

Nobel Mendy was another impressive Hull debutant. Not only did he score, he looked sharp on possession playing out from the back, and looked physically up to Premier League standards.

Everton were also off to a good start, with the return of Branthwaite, their fans should be excited. Alongside James Tarkowski they make a great duo at the back for the Toffees. If he can stay fit, Everton will be a tough side to beat.

Midfield - Maxim De Cuyper (Brighton), Mamadou Sangare (Brentford), Jack Hinshelwood (Brighton), Rayan Cherki (Manchester City)

Playing in a more advanced role, De Cuyper was arguably player of the round. He was responsible for the first two goals despite only being credited with just the one. His forward runs not only out wide, but more centrally left Aston Villa for dead.

Sangare will be one of the signings of the season. A genuine two-way talent, his contributions on both ends of the field will make him such a key asset this season. Officially credited with just one assist despite involvement with a second, his pass and move style was unexpected for a holding style midfielder, but very effective.

Hinshelwood embarrassed Aston Villa with two goals consecutively in about a minute. His hustle from the front put the game to bed for Brighton.

No surprises when Cherki came on, he won the game for City. He assisted both goals with a pinpoint corner, and a terrific through ball for the game winner. A top class cameo off the bench.

Forwards - Christos Tzolis (Arsenal), Vitaly Janelt (Brentford), Yoane Wissa (Newcastle)

A terrific debut for Tzolis against Coventry. His ability to read the game and make the right choices of when to pass, dribble, cross, or shoot reminded many fans of Alexis Sanchez. High praise, and a man of the match display on debut.

Janelt was a surprise starter over Mikkel Damsgaard in a more advanced midfield role, but he delivered. A goal on the night for Janelt, he controlled the midfield alongside Sanagre brilliantly, what a partnership they could form.

Newcastle were unlucky not to get the win against Liverpool, but their standout player was Wissa. He started in the ten role, then shifted to striker after William Osula was substituted. Wissa drove the ball so well and was hard to handle on the counter attack, and delivered an assist on the night.
