Pat Beach - 8/10

Did not have to do very much, but made a crucial late save. Harsh to ditch him for the penalty shootout.

Jordy Bos - 7/10

Subbed at half time due to an injury, but Bos is such a treat to watch, his direct and fast dribbling is going to make him an expensive man for whoever wants him.

Lucas Herrington - 7/10

Tough ask for him to take a penalty, but a huge talent in the making. Doesn't stand out at all during the game. A great sign for a mature and talented player to be.

Alessandro Circati - 7.5/10

Always so solid in defence and comfortable on the ball. Felt when Mohamed Toure came on, it suited his play style much better. The long ball into Nestroy Irankunda is far less effective, with Toure much more physical and used to hold up play.

Harry Souttar - 7/10

Horrendous penalty. But solid at the back as always for Souttar, winning lots of aerial battles.

Aziz Behich - 6/10

Worked hard and played with great passion, but his execution was poor. His passes down the line never seemed to get to their intended target, and his crossing was always shallow.

Aiden O'Neill - 7.5/10

Solid again from O'Neill, controlled the tempo of the midfield nicely, and made some very solid incisive passes in transition.

Jackson Irvine - 5/10

Was great against Paraguay, but not against Egypt in this game. His passing game looked off, balls getting hoofed into the air, and a lack of composure at times for Irvine.

Conor Metcalfe - 7/10

Solid game from Metcalfe. His pressing from the front was very impressive, winning the ball back a number of times, he will be frustrated he didn't get into many shooting positions.

Nestroy Irankunda - 6.5/10

Striker is not his best position, and was let down again by Tony Popovic. But characteristically he made good movements both off and on the ball and won several fouls in transition.

Cristian Volpato - 7.5/10

Harsh to be subbed off early, Volpato will be a great player for Australia going forward. Shame we didn't get to see him, Irankunda and Toure all together.

BENCH:

Kai Trewin - 3/10

Largely ineffective, and look uncomfortable at right wing back.

Ajdin Hrustic - 5/10

Fairly average from Hrustic, wasn't able to get enough attacking touches to be effective.

Mohamed Toure - 5/10

Didn't get the ball where he wanted enough to get his full impact.

Awer Mabil - 8/10

Looked great off the bench, got on the ball and drove it into good attacking spaces.

Paul Okon-Engstler - 5/10

Average off the bench, was decent but made no real difference.

Mat Ryan - N/A

Bold sub, didn't matter in the end.
