Socceroos wonderkid Lucas Herrington is set to smash several records as he approaches a move to Premier League side Hull.
Several reports have indicated Herrington is on the cusp of sealing a move from American side Colorado Rapids to Hull worth up to £21.5m, or $41.1M AUD.
This deal would become a record fee paid for an Australian player, a record sale for Colorado Rapids, and a record signing for Hull.
This is such a significant deal for Australian football, to likely have a regular starter in a Premier League side is great for this nation. The World Cup and other major tournaments is such a great stepping stone for so many players who may be unknown to top sides. Herrington is one of several Socceroos who have sealed European moves post-World Cup including:
Cammy Devlin (Hearts to Rangers), Pat Beach (Melbourne City to Troyes), and Paul Okon-Engstler (Sydney FC to Koln).
Here is who Herrington will be above in the history of Australian player sales, although this doesn't account for relevant inflation.
