World Cup Refereeing Under Review! The Offside Rules Need to Be Changed!
Only a week into the World Cup, but how have the refs been?

The watchability of this World Cup has been facilitated by the rules and the refereeing.
Quick throws, quick substitutions, quick VAR checks. The rules have made this World Cup a great watch so far.
These kinds of rules means there is so much less time wasted as players know the standards and the referees aren't willing to bend the knee for everyone and put up with constant complaints.
The semi automated offside system is also a great addition in football, because it removes any ambiguity or human error. The offside rule is still wrong in my opinion, but this is a step in the right direction.
The current offside interpretation is wrong. The rule should be only based on the feet of the players rather than any other body part. In recent seasons we have seen goals ruled out for someone having their shoulder offside.
This is a joke. How can someone have an advantage if their feet are onside but leaning forward? This rule needs to be changed to just the feet as it's a more accurate way to determine weather a player has an offside advantage, and it's way easier to see if someones offside by just using their feet.
I digress, the refereeing in this tournament has been very solid, with refs allowing the flow of play much more than what we see during a regular club season, these rules should be standard for all major leagues and this type of reffing should be the standard!
They have not got it all right of course, in the opening game, the last 2 reds were very harsh, Kylian Mbappe had a clear penalty denied, and Messi escaped a card for a studs up challenge.
Not 100% of course, but so far the referees have done a good job at letting the players determine who deserves the points.
