A late flurry of goals saw day 6 begin with a big win for France, overcoming Senegal 3-1.
Kylian Mbappe oozed class bagging 2 goals in the second half. Senegal enjoyed nearly half of the possession but will be disappointed with the lack of chances they created with just 6 shots for the game.
Ibrahim Mbaye made history however, becoming the youngest ever African goalscorer at a World Cup and the fourth youngest ever; however the 18 year old was outshone by his PSG teammate who is looking dangerous in combination with Michael Olise.
Erling Haaland has also announced himself on his first ever World Cup appearance.
Norway dominated much of the game despite having only 1 more shot in the game than Iraq. The difference was how clinical Norway were with the most clinical striker in world football at the moment.
If Haaland can maintain his insane form, Norway could threaten a few teams this tournament.
Norway's chances were more clear cut and their quality shone over Iraq, winning 4-1.
The greatest of all time delivers yet again for Argentina. Both sides technical ability and smoothness in attack made for a great watch.
Early goals for Lionel Messi and Ibrahim Maza were disallowed for marginal offsides but Messi couldn't be kept quiet for long; burying the opening goal from distance past Zinedine Zidane's son, Luca; 2 decades on from when Messi and Zidane both appeared in what turned out to be Zinedine's most infamous World Cup.
Both sides worked the ball well into key areas with the final finish lacking composure at times. Positives to take away for both sides, but the second half showed why Messi is the best to ever do it.
His first ever World Cup hattrick on game number 200 (only the 3rd player to play 200 international matches), taking him top on the all time World Cup goal scorers list, winning a record 12th player of the match award.
Argentina starting their title defence winning 3-0.
In the final game of the day Austria took on Jordan which looked a bland matchup on paper and in practice wasn't a bad game.
As predicted Romano Schmid was the man to break the deadlock with a great strike from the edge of the box, with Austria's playmakers being the key to scoring.
Austria controlled the tempo with Jordan trying to hit Austria on the counter attack, hitting the bar in the first half.
Jordan had chances but their lack of quality in the final third showed in the first half but continued to hit on the break with long balls in behind Austria, scoring their first ever World Cup goal in the 50th minute.
Jordan started to get sloppy with Marko Arnautovic capitalising on some poor communication and physicality from a corner; but was subsequently ruled out for handball.
Austrias next corner caused issues for Jordan, with yet another own goal this tournament; A last minute penalty sealing Austria a 3-1 win.
