Portugal took on DRC in Houston to kick off day 7 of the World Cup. DRC had a clear plan, 5 at the back, park the bus and hit Portugal on the counter attack.
This plan proved somewhat fruitful with a 1-1 draw the outcome of this game. With 25% of the ball, DRC managed only 1 less attempt on goal than Portugal.
This cagey affair didn't produce a whole heap of chances for either side. Joao Neves scored early for Portugal, but Yoane Wissa equalised with DRC's first ever goal in the World Cup.
Work to do for both sides.
England kick started their campaign with a 4-2 over Croatia in a very entertaining game.
Croatia came from behind twice before half time, but England proved too strong in the second half, with Bellingham scoring right at the start of the second half.
Harry Kane grabbed 2 goals on the night. If he can stay fit and firing for England they could go deep in this tournament. For Croatia their main issue to address is their shape and getting hit whilst out of position.
Both teams looked good in attack but defensive issues need to be addressed before their next games.
Another cagey affair, as Ghana grabbed a late winner against Panama.
A 1-0 win for Ghana is a huge result despite a game of few chances. Ghana late in the second half were the side pushing for a result and deserved a winner for their persistence.
Not a great performance for either side, Panama would've taken a point; which would've been their first ever, as they seemed to loss gas late in the second half.
In the final game, Colombia has defeated Uzbekistan, winning 3-1 after capitalising on key errors.
Uzbekistan did a great job to nearly get a point in this game, having some decent spells of possession. But where they came undone was in chance creation, only registering 5 shots all game.
The threat of Colombia's attacking fullbacks was too much for Uzbekistan to deal with, with Daniel Munoz scoring the opener. Luis Diaz put Colombia in front, with Jaminton Campaz sealing the winner late in the game in front of a deafening crowd.
Abbosbek Fayzullaev scored for Uzbekistan, in their first ever goal in a great moment for the country.
Uzbekistan looked organised, but lacked final product, Colombia produced more chances but lacked consistency with their shooting opportunities.
Positives for both, things to work on for both.
