FIFA Rankings Update: Portugal, Tunisia Slide as USA, Mexico Close in on Top 10

The World Cup is reshaping the world order in the official world rankings.

2022 winners Argentina still hold top spot over France and Spain. The big winners currently are: Germany, who is up 2 places and is ranked 8th, Mexico who are up 3 places into 11th, the USA, who is up 4 places into 13th, with Japan up 2 places into 16th.

Morocco also has gone up a place into 6th behind only Brazil, England, Spain, France, and Argentina; proving their 2022 run was no fluke and they are here again to show their ability to the world.

The big losers are: Portugal, down 4 places into 9th, Croatia, who are down 4 places sitting 15th, with Uruguay and Senegal falling 2 places to 18th and 17th.

The current top 20 rankings are as follows:

  3. Spain
  4. England
  5. Brazil
  6. Morocco
  7. Netherlands
  8. Germany
  9. Portugal
  10. Belgium
  11. Mexico
  12. Colombia
  13. USA
  14. Italy (Not at World Cup)
  15. Croatia
  16. Japan
  17. Senegal
  18. Uruguay
  19. Switzerland
  20. Denmark (Not at World Cup)

Outside the top 20, Norway is up 5 places (26th), Canada is up 3 places (27th), Paraguay is up 4 places (37th), and DR Congo is up 3 places (43).

Uzbekistan has fallen out of the top 50, down 4 places (54th), Tunisia is down 13 places (58th), Panama is down 6 places (40th), Turkiye is down 10 places (32nd), with Ecuador down 7 places (30th).
